They won’t be able to restore those comments

oh they definitely have the ability to do so.

List of hackernews folk are saying their changes were reversed https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36354850-

I can confirm that at least my account that I nuked 6 months ago had all the comments restored.

just checked and yup, mine have also been restored - on an account I nuked about 6 months ago. I’ve deleted the account so I can’t even remove them again.

Thank you reddit for forcing me off your platform and not having to deal with your shitty app anymore.

things are better on reddit because only a single ~~community~~ subreddit can have one name vs on lemmy where every server can have the same community name - but the end result should be the same in both cases.

This adds up to a huge fragmentation across what was previously a single community.

this is how these things start - there will be fragmentation until one community takes over the majority of the users.

Ah, got it. Yes, you are right, that would be awesome.

Mlem looks really good for lemmy, although of course a lot of features are still missing.

I nuked all three of my accounts, each with thousands of comments. Fuck reddit.

Yeah exactly. Mostly it's the "we're creating all this dangerous waste and leaving it for our children to deal with" 🤦‍♂️ In any case, buried or not, with nuclear waste we at least have good understanding of it, have ways to measure how dangerous the levels are, etc, unlike all the polution from fossil fuels that everyone seems to just be content with.

I actually find it pretty hilarious when people are so vehemently against burying nuclear waste - then you mention Oklo to them and they just go all quiet.
