So many programs use those prefixes in Linux so it just gets confusing

If I ever recommended openoffice it was just because I confused the names of the two products.

OMG! Yes! classic doom had some of the most frustrating level designs. I started to hate the game after being lost forever on some maps.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

I got lost a few times in that game as a kid. I do not htink it is too bad these days. I think it was a matter of being put in a significantly larger world from what we were used to.

I've played it so many times at this point, I think I could navigate it without enemies or needing to click on consoles it with my eyes closed.

Across the street from my friend's house, there was a mini forest There was a clearing inside, so people would hangout there, some people made bike trails and stuff like that.

At one point some people brought in a wooden picnic bench. So, my friend carved out a place on the bench to smoke weed form.

tldr - I smoked weed out of a picnic bench.

We would put it in a empty water bottle and cut a small hole in the back and blow out through that so the smoke would me amied out the window.

It was dumb, becuase it did not take the smoke from burning the weed in the first place into account.

Well, I think that’s the likely scenario

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How does this site charge $29/month for a subscription? That’s insane!

Thanks for the heads up. This is good to know.

I typically use my work computer for just zoom meetings. I could see my possibly being able to replace my work computer with this.

Of course I’d still keep Linux on my personal laptop.

I’m not an android user, but doesn’t it let you do whatever you want? What things can’t a person do using Android as a desktop that a windows or mac user can do?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It shouldn't be important, but do we know their race? I read the article, but I may have missed it. I am assuming they are Hispanic.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

Well I’m on iOS currently, and disable the camera through privacy settings and it still does not allow me to use it.

I've been using Kopia to backup my Windows work machine, Linux personal computer, and my wife's Macbook.

Right now, It is just backing up to my NAS, but I would like to have it backup to a cloud solution.

I figured I would get some S3 storage somewhere and point Kopia at that to make the backup. I do not need a lot of space. I think 500gb would be enough. I do not want costs to be too high.

Do I have the right plan, or is there a better option?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve been replaying though the Pokémon games for the first time since they came out.

I just finished Gold and started Emerald last week. I was really looking forward to it as I always hear great things about emerald.

But I have not been enjoying it. I feel like I’m constantly under leveled and even when I have a higher level than other Pokémon, I feel weaker.

The map has been a bit annoying going in circles for the first half of the game. I am at the 5th gym now, and decided to drop it and move to gen 4.

I also have not been happy with the team I built. It seems that the move sets I have are not really that good. I’m at level 20-30 and I’m just getting my first good moves for some of my team.

About 3 years ago, I watched the stargate movie and really loved it. I immediately tried to watch sg1 but had a really hard time due to the characters being recast with actors who are significantly different than their movie counterparts.

Well, I guess enough time has passed and I got through the first 3ish episodes and have been hooked since then.

I just started season 2 this afternoon.

Please no spoilers.

I’ve been replaying Gold on my game it color. I just beat the elite 4 and started going through the Kano gyms.

The elite 4 battles, were tough and it was really close. I genuinely was feeling the tension as I landed my last few hits.

The Kanto gyms seem really easy so far. Much easier than the elite 4, so that’s a bit disappointing.

I did decide against fighting red after getting the badges. I estimate my team will be around level 50 when I finish getting the ka to badges and I do not want to grind 20 levels to match red’s level.

After this, I’m going to play emerald, which I’ll emulate on my 3ds. I’m really looking forward to it as it seems like a huge technological leap compared to red > gold.

I played these games as a kid, but only have good memories of red, I had 0 memory of gold, and I have 0 memories of emerald. I never played the platinum generation so I’m extremely excited for that one.

Based on this site, it looks like there are just 15 games.

I only ask, because that console is selling used where I live for about 200-300, but the 3dsxl is only about 100 if you find a good deal usually around 120.

I planned to get a dsi and emulate gba games, but it seems that the emulation is not too great. I see it’s even worse on the ds lite.

If I use a gba flash cart in the ds lite, should I have full compatibility?

Additionally, how does screen quality between the 2 compare? I don’t care much about the size, but overall picture quality.

Thanks in advance!

I got my old game boys and have been playing pokemon gold on the gameboy color. I also have red and blue.

But, I want to play through the rest of them on original hardware up until the switch. I plan to use flash carts or some kind of mods to play the games as they are quite expensive.

Please let me know if there are any flaws in my plan.

Gameboy Advance SP (I like this as it’s backlit and will let me play my other gameboy games)

  • Pokemon Emerald

New 3dsxl/2dsxl

  • the rest of the games I’d like to play them all using flash carts or software mods. Since these games are not as old I’ll buy the original if they are under $100

Is it as simple as picking up these two consoles to play all the pre-switch pokemon games? Is there a better non-emulation option?

I found my old gameboy color, and I started playing Pokémon gold on it.

The thing is, the screen sucks. I see there are backlight mods and wanted to know if anyone has experience with this.

I’m not sure if all the displays made for the gameboy color have the same resolution.

I can only buy kits directly from China where I live, but the resolutions are not listed. I’m worried it’s going to distort the original image.

Hey, I’m a huge Star Trek fan and have seen all of that stuff endlessly.

I love the Star Trek community, and it seems Doctor who has a similar thing.

So, I want to check out this show. Can someone recommend a good place to start?

Can I just pick a series based on the actor? I was considering the series with Matt Smith. Just because I saw a few clips with him.

I grew up playing Final Fantasy VII. I probably played it around 10-12 years old and again on ios a few years ago.

WOW! What a classic.

I decided to play the remake on my Steam Deck just ot revisit the game and see areas of the game reimagined.

They did a great job in this aspect, but overall I feel that the game has not been fun.

So far, it is just walking from place to place while having the occasional battle. 99% of the time you can mindlessly mash a button to find the battle.

The few boss battles that come up can be interesting and this is where you start to learn the mechanics as they are not needed up until this point.

But, there are many sections that are long for the sake of being long. Like making you walk slowly in certain situations, like walking up to 7th Heaven, or making you hold a button to interact with something when 99% of things just require you to press the button once.

My biggest disappointment in the game is that the gear I unlocked and leveled up, do not carry over to the next game. Once I learned this, I stopped caring. They really should have let you bring over your characters.

Anyway, I am near the end game now and will probably finish it since there is not much left, but I will not be playing other iterations of this game. I might just watch a speed-run or a "let's play" to see the different areas.

I played oot using Ship of Harkinian to play a randomized version of this game after seeing it run at GDQ. I did use easier randomizer settings than the runner did, but I just completed my first run of it.

I did need to use the log 4 times to lookup where an item was.

The first one was to find the letter to give to king zora. It was behind a waterfall in the gerudo valley.

After this, I used it to find the megaton hammer. It was in the grotto right in front of the entrace to the goron city. I was a little annoyed as I knew about this grotto and didn't check it before since I got the song of storms late in the game.

I found the longshot by beating dampe in under 1 minute or actually 1 minute on the dot. I also got the light arrows from speaking to the chicken girl as an adult.

I felt pretty good about this as 3/4 hints I needed were to find items in places that i did not know that you could find items.

I'm not a zelda expert and only played through this game casually before. So if you like this game, i'd recommend giving the randomizer a try. It breathed new life into the game.

I have already seen everything Trek some more than once already. I always get a bit sad on the last few episodes of a series. I am going to miss the characters and seeing them continue to grow and interact with each other.

The same thing happened when I finished my rewatch of DS9. I think it hit my harder with DS9 since that those characters had such a good chemistry with each other.

Once I finish Voyagers I plan to start watching TNG right away. I havn't done a complete watch through of it for many years. I usually get the first 2 or 3 seasons before getting distracted. I have been looking forward to watching it again.
