Spiders. I have, on more than one occation, collected spiders at work to stock up on the ones that died at home.

Not sure what wolf spiders are doing on that list, they are totally harmless. Also everyone (except people in Antartica) has wolf spiders.

Black widows and brown recluses are medically significant but haven't killed anyone in the US in decades. But do go and see a doctor if you get bitten.

Also check this map to make sure you actually have brown recluses where you live. A lot of spiders are mistaken for them.

My grandma always said that watching too much TV will make your eyes square.

Ok ... who talked about Fight Club?

I have a 5 year old phone and never used a screen protector. Do I need a microscope to see these scratches?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yeah, never used one. I don't see the point.

Then again, I can say the same about a phone case.

it seems to be everywhere

Only if you're terminally online.

But for the people that get their news from TV and printed newspaper .. or maybe facebook, US poltics is a sidenote. The sports segments are usually twice as long as the international politics segment, for example. Sure, they probably heard about the tarrifs in some form, but a lot of people just don't care about that.

Both shows are just people being really fucking stupid and it’s somehow hilarious.

They are more than just stupid, usually also selfish or downright evil. And it is hilarious. So why did you drop them? Both are gems. Always Sunny get's a lot better in S2 as well (Danny DeVito joins the cast).

I think maybe the phrasing? Calling them unemployed might have bad implications, even though it is accurate for recent graduates. I'm not sure.

Really I just find it interesting. Lemmy works in mysterious ways sometimes :D

Run the script essentially once a year or so when major updates come along.

I've set it up in the task sheduler as a "on boot-up" task. Have never bothered with it through multiple updates.

I've been appointed as a mod 3 times now.

The action shows up in the modlog straight away, but it always takes a couple of hours until it actually works. Then, serveral hours later it seems to just reverse itself.

I suspect it has to do with ongoing federation issues on the side of lemmus.org (the instance of the head mod account). All post from lemmy.world are delayed by about 12 hours on that instance.

Maybe the delayed federation somehow messes with the mod appointments?

I really have no idea why I was banned from those two communities specifically. I don't think I've interacted with any of them (apart from reading/voting) for weeks. It's not an instance ban.

If there is a better place to post this, please tell me.

EDIT:

I posted a link that was falsely flagged as malicious, have been unbanned! See comments for more details!
