This would incentivize paid CEOs that lack equity to hire more people and fire fewer people, even if it wrecked the business. Sometimes businesses need to decrease the employee headcount if revenue is declining or they won't be able to pay anyone. I understand your desire to be more inclusive and have less pay disparity, but the best way to do that is with taxing the ultra wealthy and giving a certain amount back to the lower classes rather than actually try to alter market forces that would result in unusual inefficiencies and problems. A big reason why we have capitalism is to make sure things like food and other essentials are supplied In sufficient quantities. I am not in favor of unregulated unchecked capitalism, but the idea that we can pay CEOs more as wages go up for everyone in the company is an idea that only will work well with smooth sailing. Any rough waters and that idea won't make sense. (This post is not condoning extreme poverty which is due to the poor policies of many elected leaders.)

It's hard to know how to respond, however. The problem is religion. And believe it or not, compassion and the existence of trans people is the key that has allowed the psychopathic class to gain power.
Many religious types see empathy as a threat to their religious beliefs, which are all innately fake. All people who are kind and empathetic and understand science want to be kind to people who are trans, and for religious people, this threatens the core of their belief system. In the beginning, the Unicorn Sky Man created Adam and Even, not Adam Eve and THEM. So if some people are intersex, and some people look male but feel female, or look female and feel male, it exposes the lies of their religious myths and suddenly makes the bullshit at the CORE of their cult very clear.
These religious people can't admit their beliefs are based on lies, can't admitted they were tricked into believing bullshit, and so they will cling to ANYTHING that supports their delusional moron cult instead of providing empathy to people who are different.
Suddenly, in come the psychopaths who don't give a fuck about anyone, knowing full well they can exploit this situation for more power and money. And sadly they have taken this large core of religious delusional idiots, which makes up about 65% of the country, and they are appealing directly to them: "We will support your religious delusions by hating trans people + we have some other ideas." And the 65% universally voted for it.

The Holocaust stopped because there was a disabled president who felt it was immoral to kill people who were different, backed up by a public who believed Jewish people were part of their religious foundation.

Eventually, more accepting young people are going to start voting, so this problem will eventually go away in 20 years, but the cruelty and exploitation and viciousness is all happening right now. So what can be done right now?
I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done. I don't see a solution. I am not sure organization will do anything, protests will do anything, the math just isn't on the side of decent people. Does anyone think there is a solution to this problem that doesn't involve waiting 20 years?

I am not using Mint, but for whatever reason I installed TimeShift.
I recently tried a new Alpha upgrade of my distro because I thought it would be cool to check out. Also, when I ran the command, I expected it to be like "Are you sure you want to do this ||shit||?" and instead it just full-on started upgrading to the new alpha version of the distro.
After 30 minutes of waiting and the upgrade being 40 percent done, I thought, "Well, it's not going to be that bad. I'll just ||go to the strip club||, come back, and I'm sure it will work fine."
Lo and behold, I come back ||from the strip club|| and NOTHING WORKS. My VPN doesn't load anymore, parts of the screen are unusable, the new interface is strange, things I use daily are just not running at all. I try to install these things using the command line and can't. I try updating but apparently apt is already doing something, which makes no sense.
||FUCK||, I thought to myself. I opened TimeShift thinking "there's no way this will ||fucking|| work, I'm going to lose this entire weekend dealing with the aftermath of this ||shit||."
I use TimeShift and about 6 minutes later, everything is fine. It's exactly the same as before, it works perfectly. It's like I never ran that awful command at all.

Is it possible to get an AI model to generate a script that will download the latest LTS torrent of Ubuntu?

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to get various AI models to create a script that will curl or wget the latest Ubuntu LTS desktop torrent, even should that LTS version update in the future (beyond 24.01.1 LTS). The purpose is that I would like to seed whatever the latest LTS torrent is and I don't want to have to keep checking the Ubuntu page for updates, I want it automatic. I know that LTS is slow to change versions but I am annoyed that AI can't just write a decent script for this.
I also have downloaded rtorrent as a command line and will deal with how to make sure the latest LTS is used, as opposed to the prior one, with a different script later, but that's not what I'm trying to now.
I am not asking for a human to create this script for me. I am asking why AI models keep getting this so wrong. I've tried ChatGPT 4o, I've tried DeepSeek, I've tried other localized models, Reasoning Models. They all fail. And when I execute their code, and I get errors and show it to the models, they still fail, many times in a row. I want to ask Lemmy if getting an answer is theoretically possible with the right prompt or if AI just sucks at coding.
This shouldn't be too hard to do. At https://www.releases.ubuntu.com, they list the releases. When curling the webpage, there's a list of the releases with version numbers some with LTS. New versions are always larger numbers. At https://ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads, they list the torrents. Also, all release torrents for desktop are in the format https://www.releases.ubuntu.com/XX.XX/desktop.torrent. I've tried to teach these models this shit and to just create a script for me, holy shit it's been annoying. The models are incredibly stupid with scripting.
