They aren't based on LOS. They should be based on AOSP.
There a bunch of custom roms for RN11. Crdroid and Pixel Experience have a good reputation.
You can unlock the bootloaders on Xiaomi phones. Just be aware that not all have custom ROM support. Mainly those using Qualcomm SOCs have some support.

I use Voyager with Hermit. It can PWA any site and gives me fine grain control in the settings.
It looks like Rosamund Pike is carrying the whole show. The actor playing Rand... Wears the character like an ill fitting suit. The other side characters are more interesting.
