I'm quite sure that limiting access to information and communication is supposed to reduce and prevent any form of organized protest. That's why the Russian government is doing it in the first place.

Why do you think that helping the Russian government to enforce censorship is a good idea?

Not all Lemmy instances allow downvoting. So they might not introduce friction, but they remove the (maybe un-considered) negative reaction.

Their latest album was released in 2023. They released ~9 albums since the 80s, so they should not lack material.

That unsophisticated attacks can affect critical infrastructure is worrisome.

I consider myself a newbee.

Can someone please point out some specific licenses and projects which disallow this kind of action?

Thanks for pointing that out. But it was only a joke.

A water gun will also do it. You can even order one from Amazon...

You will have to repeat that again and again, because people don't know what LLMs are. They have been told that we have AIs and don't understand that what they actually use are digital parrots (minus the intelligence of an actual parrot).

What are principles worth if you won't stand for them?

I was confused for a minute, not understanding what (Apache) Maven has to do with social networks.

I just received this message from a band I like, on Bandcamp. I hope that posting it here doesn't violate any rule. It's also an interesting insight on what kind of influence corporations like Meta have on small bands.

Hey! Hope you're enjoying a chilled Sunday with good music and good vibes.

You may have seen our 5000-follower Facebook account was permanently disabled by Meta this week in the lead-up to our UK/EU tour with Acid Rooster. All our Facebook events, promo and paid ad campaigns have been deleted.

No reason was given by Meta (other than 'authentic identity' - which we provided on several occasions), they took £200 from our Paypal and tell us we have no right to reply. I suspect it may be the result of a hack elsewhere. The fight continues.

This has obviously had a significant impact on our ability to promote our upcoming shows on the platform that carries our biggest following.

We'd be eternally grateful if you could help us get the word out about the tour this week by sharing the links, poster oand giving us a follow on your social.

We really appreciate any support and shares you can give JP, Gary, Mike, Graham, Seb, Billy
