The blue check reaction to the totally cracked treasury zoomers showcases a complete rejection of the importance of domain knowledge. It's 10x software engineer syndrome metastasized.

They're saying that the ice cream hair kid - who has never worked on a real world system because he's STILL IN COLLEGE - is going to do us proud because he translated a greek scroll in high school? Good for him, but so what? Ben Carson split babies in half like Solomon and he's still a moron.

...because the shooter hid it from the cameras. What a shocker.

I've been a big fan of HN comments lately

It's so embarrassing to watch upper-middle class (at best!) rationalists get their panties in a twist over Luigi. At least the right wing talking heads are getting paid, these guys are just mad he did things instead of tweeting about things.

Lots of developments in the UHC shooter case

  • They (probably) caught him

  • He's even hotter without his three identical jackets

  • He's a Thielhead

Not very happy with how this day's going

That's what she said? That's literally so much funnier than any of the memes

Not just physics, but the physics of the world. Which makes it sound as if AI and physics are fundamentally separate somehow.

Is BasedBeef aware that AI is already fundamentally merged with physics on the basis that it already physically exists? Just because your six finger, no light in her neon eyes gen AI waifu is 2D doesn't mean that the bits that comprise her are exempt from the physics of the universe. Really, what could that quote possibly even mean?

Is that a Henry Ford reference? Very clever lol

Oh man that is so grim

Kronvold, 38, was given an FKU test in 2014 before the birth of her second child, a boy, and again recently while pregnant with her third child. Speaking through an intermediary, she told the Guardian that on this last occasion she was told it was to see if she was “civilised enough”.

I think the real picture is the one depicting the man with a mullet, a receding hairline, a black eye, a more blacked out eye, and a body slathered in baby oil.

Art's value is determined by two measurable factors: prettiness at a glance, and ungarbled signage, artist motivations be damned. With this in mind we can predict other advancements in entertainment (all art is entertainment!)

For example, future pro boxing matches will be performed by rock'em sock'em robots in skin suits. They can score more points than humans. Soccer will be performed by restaurant server robots...in skin suits. Humans will still have a place in Olympic skiing and swimming so long as human pleather warps in water.

Hermansson logged in to Google and began looking up results for the IQs of different nations. When he typed in “Pakistan IQ,” rather than getting a typical list of links, Hermansson was presented with Google’s AI-powered Overviews tool, which, confusingly to him, was on by default. It gave him a definitive answer of 80.

When he typed in “Sierra Leone IQ,” Google’s AI tool was even more specific: 45.07. The result for “Kenya IQ” was equally exact: 75.2.

Hmm, these numbers seem very low. I wonder how these scores were determined.

Ali Breland has written some fantastic entry pieces on the new right, including right wing anons and maga tech; now he has an article about the nooticers

Other anonymous far-right accounts have accrued more than 100,000 followers by posting about the supposed links between race and intelligence. Elon Musk frequently responds to @cremieuxrecueil, which one far-right publication has praised as an account that “traces the genetic pathways of crime, explaining why poverty is not a good causal explanation.” Musk has also repeatedly engaged with @Eyeslasho, a self-proclaimed “data-driven” account that has posted about the genetic inferiority of Black people. Other tech elites such as Marc Andreessen, David Sacks, and Paul Graham follow one or both of these accounts. Whom someone follows in itself is not an indication of their own beliefs, but at the very least it signals the kind of influence and reach these race-science accounts now have.

...And if it weren't for that one joke by Hannibal, Bill Cosby would be very uncontroversial.

The post Xitter web has spawned soo many "esoteric" right wing freaks, but there's no appropriate sneer-space for them. I'm talking redscare-ish, reality challenged "culture critics" who write about everything but understand nothing. I'm talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. They're inescapable at this point, yet I don't see them mocked (as much as they should be)

In the past few months alone I've seen:

  • A birthrate obsessed substacker who wants to ban car seats to increase minivan sales
  • Two people off HN who went on thinly race-iq rants only to say that race and iq doesn't even matter because ChatGPT is going to lift the non-whites into sapience and end racism. Neither substacker seemed to know each other, yet came to the same ridiculous conclusion.
  • A former femboy, turned reply-guy who tweets about how the hidden figures woman was actually white like once a week
  • Another xitter user who's made 10 posts a day insisting that Ethiopians are actually mostly white, which is why they had castle and shit

And honestly there's a lot more of these guys that are crazy than they are racist; I just so happened to remember the most offensive posters. Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn't be surgeons because they didn't believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can't escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

This has convinced me more and more that the only possible way forward that’s not a dystopian hellscape is total freedom of all AI for anyone to do with as they wish. Anything else is forcing values

This dude also posts a direct link to a race-bait bluecheck two comments down, further cementing hn AI threads as downstream frog twitter.

I know this one might be stretching it a bit, but every comment on this post is sneer-worthy, every single one.
