You get to a point where basic needs and standard luxuries don't move the needle and all the things you can't afford are just exponentially more expensive. This phase literally never ends. There are things Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk desire that they cannot afford. But even if you are making like 200k or so, "normal" living cost quickly become trivial, and it becomes about how much you have for crazy vacations and home upgrades. But you can be perfectly happy "just" getting a high end item and not a super lux item if you are a well adjusted person

It's 9000 pounds and is faster than 90s supercars. It's complete lunacy, and I'm actually quite scared of how much more dangerous it's going to make driving.

For me the whole point of security cameras is real time notifications and cloud infrastructure. Having videos of someone robbing my house after the fact is a distant second motivation. Also, if officer Barbrady kicks down my door and violates my rights, he's much more likely to get my NAS than some random docker on a random AWS colo.

I had a 15 year old account shadowbanned from a community I contributed to daily because I don't register emails on Reddit accounts. Apparently that was more important than my record of thousands of productive comments.

I mean, somebody has to, right? We can't have our children growing up to be lame.
