He's being super cagey here very carefully talking about "developer salaries" trying to hide the fact that he's soliciting direct donations to himself and Dessalines, who are the people who have chosen to run .ml the way they have, and who are now dealing with the consequences of being petty asshole despots to the broader fediverse.

Personally I don't have a grudge against .ml because of their politics, I have a grudge against them because of the way I have been treated directly by these two. You want me to give you money so you can ban me for increasingly idiotic and petty reasons? Fuck off. Or apologize, and then fuck off.

Even if a school is completely funded, fundraising still pays for things above and beyond what any funding buys. Elite private schools still do fundraising drives. Nobody has ever said "you know what, we've run out of things this school could spend money on."

The biggest savings being time, and this doesn't really hit home until you realize that you never have to divert to a gas station during rush hour because you can't put it off for a sixth day in a row. For all the discussion about how you might have to spend an extra ten minutes charging on a 400 mile road trip, very few people talk about the literal hours saved never visiting a gas station the rest of the time.

Compared to Canada a lot more flights from EU to US are for family and work. Comparatively, lot of EU tourism happens within that context, instead of just random destination travel.
