I thought Polonius would be part of the 2024 Edition, and was sad not seeing being mentioned at all. Good to see its still being worked on.

 

Today I've reported a player in Marvel Rivals for being a cheater (it was obvious to me, even autoaim through wall playing hawkeye). And I just got a confirmation message that the player is banned until 2125... basically a 100 year ban. :D Do report them. Report toxicity as well (I get ton of confirmation). But do not report because you are angry or maybe the other player played well. It's the first time I reported someone in Marvel Rivals for cheating.

I do my part.

Hmm sounds reasonable. After my question I was reading the original news from Archlinux and the following statement

In order to not break user setups, we kept these repositories around in an unused and empty state.

suggest that the empty and unused repositories have no effect. I don't know why they kept this, because removing them would break back then. Removing them now breaks it today, so not sure why they delayed that, as nothing is won. I will ~~un~~comment out (Edit: I meant I will comment out) those lines and see what happens. :D In worst case the system cannot update and I can reverse the change. But there is no reason why the system should not able to update, if the repositories are empty.

Another Edit: Me dummy don't have any [community] repository. Not sure if I removed it before (very possible) or if it is removed by my distribution (please don't hurt me, I'm just using EndeavourOS).

Last 6 Months: I don't know when, but Mint finally beat the "extremely popular" distribution MX Linux. Good to see that EndeavourOS is right after it on place 3. Ubuntu still not very popular on place 8, but might climb up soon after the new release. Archlinux is on place 67, because nobody uses it; even Gentoo is more popular on place 63.

Obviously I don't take this too seriously.

Numerous games received improvements in Mesa 25.0, including ..., Marvel Rivals, ...

My hope is that Mesa 25 will fix the crashes lot of us have on Marvel Rivals. Fingers crossed 🤞

Don't make this a personal attack. Do you have any article you consider to be shitty? As an example, so we are on the same page. Do you ever wrote them a message or did an issue, so they are aware of the issue and can correct the mistake? Do you think they read this post of you and stop posting, because you do not agree with what they consider to be useful?

Sorry but, you are not the person who decides who can post and who cannot. I have seen shitty articles that others find useful, and I saw good articles that others find shitty. Do you get what I mean?

Edit: Oh I forgot the Direct X and drivers links. Added it in the below link list. There is a website that hosts old versions. With Windows 98 SE I use "voodoo_graphics_driver_kit_version_3.01.00" and "directx9.0c_april2006".

I just escaped the madness of today gaming and enjoy some retro games. The original Sim City from 1989 got a re-release in 1995 as version 2 for Windows 95. This screenshots shows DOSBox-pure in RetroArch with a Windows 98 Second Edition installation to play SimCity Classic V2.0 for Windows 95 (it works with 98). BTW this is on my Linux host. It's hilarious.

The hierarchy is as follows: Linux > RetroArch > DOSBox-pure > Windows 98 > SimCity Classic V2.0 for Windows 95

It's actually the first time I played this old version for Windows. I only knew and played the SNES version before, which is dramatically overhauled (and with gamepad support off course), my favorite version to date. In case you want too, there is a lot of stuff to do and understand to get this up and running. First you have to get RetroArch installed and how the emulator core DOSBox-pure works. Then you have to manually install Windows 98 (or maybe 95) and get its drivers sorted out too. Then off course you need the game and install it too. I leave you a few links here, so in case you are interested can start doing it too.

 

LGR is a YouTuber who talks and shows lot of oldschool games and computers. And he is a fan of the Sims games. The Windows re-release has still problems, but works perfectly fine out of the box on the Steam Deck. I just stumbled upon a website named Gaming Alexandria. Their main goal is to preserve videogames related stuff like artwork scans, posters, articles, interviews and even game dumps. My main focus is on playable game Roms, specifically on the Type-in Programs from magazines for the Family BASIC.

 

This is a bit of frustration post. I'm not a professional and some stuff is super confusing. And it might not even be programming only, as this seems to be a general issue when it comes to signing and security in computers. Every time I have to reinstall my operating system (its really only a few times in a decade), one of the things i fear most is signing into Github, signing keys and setting up local git on my Linux machine. I want the verified badge. Every time its a fight in understanding and doing the right steps, creating gpg keys and access tokens and such.

Am I the only one who struggles with this? Right now I have set it up and my test repository has the badge again. Do people care about this? Especially people like me who does a few little CLI and scripts and nothing else. Am I doing enterprise level security for the sake of an icon or is this really more secure? I do not have ANY professional background. As said I seem to have setup correctly now, so this is not asking for troubleshooting. Just wanted hear about your opinion and experience, and if any of you care.

We have a brand new PlayStation2 core, LRPS2. It’s a heavily modified version of PCSX2 custom made for the Libretro API, and it currently runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

The core code is modern and up-to-date unlike the old core and it no longer suffers from the serious drawbacks the older core had.

It supports nearly all the rendering backends for the GSdx renderer: Vulkan on Windows/macOS/Linux, Direct3D 11 and 12 on Windows, and OpenGL on Windows/Linux.
