Yeah, that one seems a bit more limited.

What changes do need a restart?? For choosing different shaders and changing their configuration you don't need a game restart.

What a coincidence, I just got Chrono Trigger this Steam sale and I've been tinkering to get Reshade to look nice with it this weekend. Though with worse results than you, I was stuck at the "why do none of the shaders look nice at 800p" part. I will definitely try your setup, it looks fantastic!

For hooking Reshade into the game I used a Decky plugin called LetMeReshade. Quite convenient. https://github.com/itsOwen/LetMeReShade

Finally managed to complete the regular Community Center for the first time!

I also visited Ginger Island and I managed to fish almost all the remaining fish. Only one to 100 the fish log.

Finally resumed my farm after a couple months hiatus. I am days away from finishing my first in-game year. I also did a bunch of fishing, so I'm only missing the octopus, 3 of the special fishes and the ones from the island/sewers/witches lair.

Community center is chugging along, but these last bundles are taking longer than the previous ones.

I haven't played in some weeks so I'm not aware of what is broken. The post and comments in other communities lead me to believe that the issue is with SMAPI itself, no each individual mod. So in some days when SMAPI is fixed it should be enough to update that, right? And leave my installed mods as they are?

"Always on" and similar extreme DRM measurements I believe are more of an issue compared to physical vs digital media. DRM free digital copies for example can have way longer lifespans than a physical copy (potentially "infinite"). But as soon as you add the requirement for some company server to be up, the game has a hard expiration date. But that's an altogether different discussion.

I hadn't though much about your first point, it is true that specially the input devices can change the feel of the game drasticly. I suppose people with special interest will seek out some of the classic gamepad clones that are available nowadays, but most people will just play with the console default.

The biggest issue imho is digital-only games that have been delisted. I'm not to worried about people not being able to play them to relieve memories since pirating them will probably be easy enough. But pirating does defeat the whole point of collecting I assume. I guess people can still assemble a full collection of physical releases only. IDK how collectors of the 3DS are doing it right now after the closure of the digital store, for example.
