Intelligent dance music (commonly abbreviated as IDM) is a style of electronic music originating in the early 1990s, defined by idiosyncratic experimentation rather than specific genre constraints. It emerged from the culture and sound palette of electronic and rave music styles such as ambient techno, acid house, Detroit techno and breakbeat; it has been regarded as better suited to home listening than dancing. Prominent artists associated with it include Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, ฮผ-Ziq, the Black Dog, the Future Sound of London, and Luke Vibert.

longtime divisive idm veteran hapbt returns with another drum and bass/hip hop/industrial/illbient influenced album created during a period of working with randomization and modulation. banned for not being a techbro/finbro/web designer, hapbt has been producing sequences of noise for over twenty years.

Sound is forms, structures..\ Seven Ark hails from Cape Town, South Africa, which might go some way to explaining the originality of his sound. The geographical isolation has played its part: with a sense of separation has come the need to push boundaries, to combine the aesthetics of multiple genres into a cohesive whole that takes the proverbial envelope and flings it as far as is deemed electronically respectable. This is progressive electronic music that's constantly trying to come up with new forms and structures, that's as much aimed at people's appreciation of innovation and art as it is at just being great to listen to.
