IDK, I have seen a lot more brown eggs over the past few years... Might be something there.

Yeah, eggs are usually more varied in colour depending on nutrition (and happiness), so some companies spray paint them for uniformity before sending them out. The tan colour is usually chosen because it seems richer in quality (aka cooked).
