This is Music Production. A place to share anything and everything you want about your music making journey! Learning is the goal, so discussion is encouraged!

RIP Waveform.

Rules are as follows:

  1. Don't share other people's music without commentary, analysis or questions. This is not a music discovery community.
  2. No elitism or bigotry towards other people's music tastes. Be polite in disagreement.

I will update rules as necessary, but I promise we'll stay light on them and only add new ones after discussion!

Here are some useful examples of what a great post would be about:

(in no particular order)

  1. Stuff you made/are making. Get valuable feedback and criticism!
  2. Learning resources - videos, articles, posts on any topic concerning a production process, be it composition, sound design, sampling, mixing, mastering, DAW workflow or any other.
  3. Free plugins, presets and samplepacks. Giveaways and self-made stuff included!
  4. News about production software, releases and personalities.
  5. Questions and general advice about music production.
  6. Essays on your favorite productions. Inspirations and insights!
  7. Your physical analog gear! Let us know how it performs!

Good to know: As a general word of caution, avoid posting complete compositions, mixes and tracks on the internet before backing them up on a remote and reputable server. Even small snippets or watermarked tracks should be posted AFTER backing it up to cloud. Timestamps from cloud services will help you in case of theft. And, as a public resource, lemmy is not a safe place to post your unpublished work, so please make sure your work is protected.

I'm just going to use fl mobile. been wanting to release something recently and want to try routenote, which is a free distributor. Those are fun cuz we can look back in like 10 years and songs will still be there. Wanna make a song with me? Routenote is apparently good but slow and strict about pirated samples. Neither of those bother me so i thought to try them. I dont care how good or bad u are at musics.

u send me something or i send u something and we pass it back and forth a few times and release it?

making something this morning. Curious what 'Sound Design Session' is; like you customize custom samples?

Sorry for the late reply.

It depends on the day. I really like synthesizers but I do like to bounce and resample whatever I'm doing over and over. And recently I like throwing the result in Amigo and or sometimes just a break, and modulate from there.

I should post more. Skip through this.

Bitwig as a DAW is itself a modular synth, so I can get lost in that pretty easily. Here's a recent bounce.

Its all pretty directionless lol but it makes great material for chopping.

nice. looks fun for collab. I wanted to release a song and its been weeks and still pending on routenote. Seeing your stuff id love to collab right nao tho but another issue is puppies destroyed my headphones. getting new headphones asap.

i did make one thing with the intent to collab it right after u first replied while still having headphones. probably sounds decent. im going to take a look at it and then should i send it? i consider it far from done but its a story song and the story is there. It has like riddic or dune epic space drama energy.

cant edit anything u send me yet so getting headphones asap

brb making description of song

looked at your community where you post your music stuff and i like your resampling: i think it can synergize nicely with me. My weakness is often predictable noninteresting drums. Want to do a resampling like in your post 'never stop resampling'? i believe i can add coolness to something like that. Then i would send it back and you could resample it more or we could figure out what to do from there :)

Ok say if this interests you.

Starts with a synth for Main Character and Space Drudgery.

And after two, I guess they are big measures, TEH NIGHTLING HORDS. or chords. Anyway, NIGHTLINGS! whatever they are. I'm thinking exotic space conquerors of which the Necromongers from chronicles of riddick are most similar.

Then teh main character returns and does their normal chillaxin. But what dis weird stuff? Nightlings? And then broken weird transition measure. Adventure goes on pause replaced by Nightling craziness. Eventually main character becomes nightling superleader like riddick or dune. Adventure returns and supporting cast returns.

And then cuz its lame when stories end b4 showing the empire after the conflict, I placed a nice long epilogue of all teh instruments getting more confident and bosser and, at teh end, Space Drudgery again xcept now it's a pretty thing instead of monotonous and repetitive. Thus evolution of space.

There is more if scrolled down but unimportant.

will msg the file.

i cant tell without headphones if i got it to a shareable state but i believe i did. Want to collab this one? maybe you do stuff to it while i get headphones in like 4 days from nao?
