Why is Winnipeg Free Press missing?

[–] AlolanVulpix@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wanted to avoid highlighting for profit media, because of the relative ease of being acquired (as many already have by Americans).

These non-profit media outlets will remain so long as they have an audience.

Fair enough, Winnipeg Free Press is a large Canadian media org, but they are indeed for profit and potentially biased that way.

Thanks for being understanding!

Yes, it's the fear of being acquired, and to a lesser extent being a for profit institution means potential conflict of interest.

If it really bothers you that much, you can also take the content, and add it yourself, as the infographic is licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA-4.0.

Perhaps just an addendum explaining that profit-driven Canadian news outlets are not included here due to the risk of being swayed by American interests.
