Only as long as it's not in the oven so long due to mismanagement and constantly changing direction.

It could be the sudden and unexpected success of Hollow Knight paralyzing them the way that happened with Valhiem. Not that it's necessarily a fault of the devs; you hit a huge success like that, there is now a weight on your shoulder to always be that good.

This could be, hollow knight is one hell of a bar to clear. Valhiem was a lesson that studios are hard to scale up, and doing it distracts from development. There's also something to be said about making a dream project, then having the focus and drive to keep it going and expanding.

Annd It's possible their main dev might be addicted to balatro and there's no way to factor or predict that kind of impact.

Development on your game being delayed because you're too busy playing another game is perfectly fair.

Ohh uh yeah good point.

I didn’t check, but I’d guess it’s the same small group of people who made the first one.

Maybe at this point they are holding off to make it a switch 2 launch title.
