Sone of us are older and take issue with how much attention she is drawing while not really organizing anything. She's a useful figurehead but there are people making her out to be akin to the American civil rights leaders of the past and she's not doing what they did in terms of grassroots organization. She's more Oprah, without the baggage she brings, than MLK.
She's neither the second coming of Christ nor is she a huckster. I think she's a sometimes media darling who does work herself but does not seem to be building a movement but rather shows up to be the face of it.
"I just dun' like 'er"-ass kind of comment.
More like she feels like Occupy Wall Street all over again where the work being done is ineffective, it feels like it is all for social media, and "progressives" will bully you if you actually ask what was achieved.
Some of you have issues with her message, but have to pretend to dislike the delivery.
Huh? She's done nothing but organize grassroot movements and civil disobedience since she was 15? MLK was 28 when he helped form the SCLC, Greta is 22 - give her some credit.
She has shown up. She hasn’t organized. Other people are doing that. Her foundation writes cheques.

I'm certainly no expert on what she's been doing, but how can you possibly make that assertion with that kind of conviction? How could you possibly know what she does vs what the people surrounding her are doing?
More importantly, do you actually think past revolutionary figures were doing everything themselves? If she's getting the people surrounding her to organize, then she is organizing them. That's leadership. Plenty of historical figures of note are the figureheads because they were the ones writing the checks, that's how things get done.
Considerable funds have been spent to make you reach that conclusion, and think it's accurate.
Not really, if you take some time you'll see she herself isn't going around and doing grunt work. A lot of money is also spent making you think she's effective at what sheis doing.
Im not saying she is doing nothing but there is a difference between what she is doing and what people who started up grassroots organizations did. If ypu look into her foundation they finance other groups and it is those people who are organizing.
You've been trained to be reflexively dismissive of what she does. This is to direct your thinking away from the specific cause at hand.
You can verify this by the number of words you've typed in order to crap on Greta, compared to the number of words you've typed about the Crimes Against Humanity in Gaza being committed by Israel.
You will behave identically the next time she speaks up on important issues.
For you, it will always be about Greta, which will reduce your will to focus on the crisis at hand.

Netanyahu has been leading Israel for years and spent decades in the IDF. Do you need me to connect the dots for you?

I'm pointing out the actual topic, which isn't Greta, and the fact that your sole axe to grind here is "Greta sux", as you've been trained.
Given that the IDF has killed aid workers, journalists, medical personnel, children, anyone they feel like, The entire crew of that ship was literally risking death, in order to break Israel's blockade of food and aid to Palestinians.
Your singular takeaway? Greta don't impress me much.

She’s a media figure that gets credit for a lot of things others were doing but she is the face for.
She’s doing work but she isn’t organizing.
She’s doing the work but not in a way you like? What work are you doing to improve your community?
She's being celebrated for being a significant activist IRL who isn't effective at all. It's Occupy Wall Street all over again where people get really mad when you actually start asking what the results of that action was.
God damn her for doing the work.
