I think most people's conversation with their wife would indicate their relationship anyway. Probably a pointless differentiation.
Maybe, maybe not, but it could mean the difference between having your account emptied and not.
It's also not very good security keeping long text chains saved rather than periodically deleting and starting a new one with people you text private information too.
It's always going to be a compromise between security and ease of use, just a matter of where each person falls.
