"A traditional Google search is still best for the simple act of looking for things to do nearby, but AI Mode could prove to be a nifty tool for more tedious tasks like product research for online shopping — an instant chart comparing baby car seats is helpful, even if imperfect. Just always check the answers."

Exactly my experience. I don't understand people who go to chatgpt first.

Except that traditional Google search is often filled with AI-generated sites without any value. I use DDG and if that fails it's simple to use their 'bangs' to try other engines.

All you get with google these days are ads

Yup, LLMs are a backup if traditional search fails. A well researched blog post is way better than whatever the LLM cobbles together, though the LLM is often better than nothing.

You don't use search? Like you don't use duckduckgo or anything?

I dont use google's search.

I am unfortunate enough to have to take part to some extent in its environment but where practical and possible I refuse.
