And I thought it was their appeal to laziness.

Don't mind me if I'm wasting energy to move a potentially lethal metal box that weighs maybe 2 tons, in which I am alone. Millions are also doing the same. It's perfectly sustainable and normal. Look, it even has a cup holder! Soon we won't even have to drive the multi ton cup holder!

EDIT: I was gonna say we're getting closer to a Wall-E type chair, but they apparently don't have precious cup holders.

No, just a regular EV can be that heavy. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 is about 2 tons.
