Feel like you have something to post, but it's not really relevant to any of the current communities, and you don't feel like it's worth making an entirely new community just to post it? This is the place for that.

From the tidbits I've read in other drama communities, it seems like either they're attracting the dregs of society that are hellbent on spewing as much vitriol as possible, or they're getting false-flagged as hard as possible by a brigade that posts as much terrible stuff as they can in an attempt to get them defederated from as much as possible, but I repeat myself.

From what it seems like this person is the "second in command" of that instance. Make of that what you will.

Oh you're talking about technical issues, I was saying they've been being brigaded or at least flooded for at least a week or two since the reddit wave started crashing in, and weathering the chaos that sort of thing usually entails.

It'd certainly help if they made signups on approval only. That captcha is too flimsy to evade bot signups.

I've had very little trouble keeping this instance running and if I an issue crops up, I'm usually on it and fix it within a couple of hours when I get to it.

Aside from potential hardware issues being a potential variable thrown in the mix, Lemmy's logs pretty much spell out what's wrong and why something is happening. All one needs to do is actually read them.

Tbf, this is running on a dedi and I've been interested in this server/sysadmin hobby since I was a late teen. So I have a lot of experiences to go off of and usually know where to look when an issue arises.

With that being said, they did us a favor in defederating us. I do not want to see that culture war poison on here, and I'm sure others here share that same sentiment. Blocking their numerous communities on a user level would be a pain.

This was also brought to my attention:

This is absolutely unacceptable and in no way would I accept this if this was the outcome of an upgrade. I'd be getting those posts back, whatever it took. And our numerous redundancies make this easier than it sounds.
