James Woods has one of the highest IQs on record, but it goes to show you that being smart doesn't make you smart...if you catch my drift.

ETA: not really sure why people took exception to this. It has been reported many times over the years that he is supposed to be exceptionally intelligent and I am certainly not making this up.

That claim came from a single source; Sinembargo.mx. MENSA also refuted this claim and a perfect score for a MENSA test is also “just” 162. It’s highly unlikely to be true.

He's too dumb for even MENSA, the club for mouthbreathers that pay money to be told that they're smart.

They got a free online test too though, it does however come with a long text telling the mouthbreather that the result is only valid when the test is taken in person with them.

Reminds me of scientology

Being smart doesn't mean you're a good person. Case in point, James Woods.

In the wise words of Smash Mouth:

Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb.

I agree with you. I also doubt James Woods actually has a high IQ.

This reminds me of a study I read once that found that more intelligent people are better able to talk themselves into believing whatever they want to believe. I wish I could find it again. It was really interesting!

Oh baby, gonna need that source just in time for Thanksgiving

Listen to him talk about anything. He's an absolute moron.

high intelligence is a strong predictor of mental illness, of which this is an unfortunate example.

hmm, interesting! it's been considered "common wisdom" since I was in university, always intriguing to have these unquestioned misconceptions corrected.

To be honest I didn't read the whole article and methods (just the summary) but it may be possible that increased intelligence just leads to increased masking, which changes the rate of diagnosis and skews the results. However, the results in the paper are quite significant so even if that's true those effects may just return them to "evens".

I won’t ever have that problem then.

Horse shoe IQ theory?
