I never crawled a megastat torrent sorry.
I don't think we should encourage downloading a magnet link from a random stranger on lemmy, could you link the site or aggregator where you found this?
I cannot because there isn't one. I crawl DHT nodes from a magnetico instance I host.
The site or aggregator would be exactly as trustable as me, anyway. You don't know me and you don't know what is on the site. If you're worried about the magnet's content, your client should have a way for you to check the torrent's content before you actually pull the files. If that's not enough for you then I don't know what would be.
Ah I understand about the dHT. There must be a way to find the original source tho right? I'm not sure I agree when you say that the site is as trustable as you. Sites and uploaders are vetted. That's why there's a wiki, if a trusted uploaded includes malware he would be banned, if he isn't banned, the site would be removed from the wiki.
I guess the original source is right there in the magnet's name. I have never visited that site though so I cannot vouch for it.
I guess my point was that whatever site you would find such obscure tools on wouldn't be on the wiki's list (and/or if it was OP would have checked there first wink wink)
