Poor Apple, people really should give them a break.

Scrutinizing the big tech giants is valid, but the confirmation bias and tin foils hattery around this topic has been a little silly. In a technology community, it sure would be nice to have conversations about how the technology actually works.

I just dislike that anyone feels the need to come to the defense of a trillion dollar company.

I’m coming to the defense of fact-based conversions.

Apple has more than enough real things to shit on. We don’t need to dumb down the community by promoting misinformation and conspiracies.

Well said. I have no problem calling Apple out on dumb shit but false accusations and sensationalism are just lame as hell.

On the same level as politics we all hate.

That said I also own Apple stock and want them to be absolutely successful.

Well it keeps people very busy, it seems. So what's the point I am clearly missing here? It feels like we are living in that rabbit asking the bakery for a carrot cake joke.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Out of curiosity, which joke are you referring to?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (3 children)

A rabbit hops into a bakery and asks the baker, "Do you have any carrot cake?"

The baker replies, "Sorry, we don't have any carrot cake."

The next day, the rabbit returns to the bakery and asks again, "Do you have any carrot cake?"

The baker, a bit annoyed, says, "No, we still don't have any carrot cake."

This continues for several days. Finally, the baker gets fed up and decides to bake a carrot cake just for the rabbit.

The next day, when the rabbit comes in and asks, "Do you have any carrot cake?" the baker proudly says, "Yes, we have a fresh carrot cake just for you!"

The rabbit looks at the baker and says, "Yuck! I don't like carrot cake!" and hops away.

That reminds me of the duck story. You’re welcome/I’m sorry. 🤣

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

@Screemu @dohpaz42 this is most reactions by techies to anything a company does

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Lots of big tech keeps everything they got their fingers on, to train AI I guess, for various reasons (publicity targeting, and other).

Apple says they delete (pinky promise!) images you told them to delete.

Some people claim they didn't.
