Welcome to the Ranked Choice Voting Community!

Voting is broken! Let's fix it.

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is a voting system in which voters rank candidates by preference on their ballots. If a candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, they are declared the winner. If no candidate wins a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and votes for that candidate are redistributed to the remaining candidates, based on the next preference on each ballot. This process continues until one candidate has a majority. Learn more about how it works.

Based as hell. This is the kind of movement we need. Grassroots organisation to reform the system.

Instead of people throwing away their vote to Russian puppet Jill Stein as a “protest” that doesn’t do anything but help get a full-on facist elected.

It’s funny how little interest the people who want Jill Stein are willing to spend on supporting the election reforms that would let her actually get into power.

I talked to a couple of them about it on Lemmy, and invited them to get involved in changing the system to finally make it realistic that they might actually win, instead of just advancing the interests of the candidate most opposite to their chosen candidate.

Would you believe it? They weren’t all that interested. The mind boggles. I thought they loved progress, and the whole idea of getting Trump into power wasn’t at all the whole point. Live and learn I guess.

I’m assuming a decent chunk are state-funded Russian keyboard warriors and the rest of them are heavily influenced by said propaganda.
