that's what all my turbo nerd star wars fan friends were saying about it when it released.
I trust their judgement on media a lot more than mine, because they actually consume it, unlike me.

Disney is that big because of their legacy. They can afford to release low quality garbage (Wish, The Lion King remake, etc) and not suffer from it at all because enough people will buy into it just because its Disney. Their reputation is so unshakable that would take back to back failures and controversies before it would even start to crack.
Some controversies don't even affect them all too much when looking at movies like love-action Mulan. The general public just doesn't know of these things
After some point the thing that keeps the largest media conglomerates going is acquisition, bullying, buying legislation, and the subsequent legalized fraud.
Creatives behind the works are kind of slaves with no freedom to express themselves. They just produce art and fill Disney's catalog which may or may never be used for the next film.
