Lol @ "who volunteered for the Democrats". Ain't that a microcosm of every American politico (especially Democrats) ignorant of actual political theory.

Imagine getting upset that someone accurately described "leftism" to you. I can only imagine it's major cognitive dissonance after a lifetime of consuming mainstream political media calling liberalism "leftist" and pushing the overton window right.

Lemmy.world already is the "normie" instance catering to liberalism. Your friend either ran into the more progressive parts of that instance or an actual leftist from a federated one. Either way, they got told an accurate take.

Anyway, can we please stop all the attempts to make this place comfortable for conservative and right wing views in the name of "growth"? Have y'all actually been on a default subreddit in the last 15 years? Would that be worth it here?

It's incredible people are down voting you because they don't like this thought. Y'all know how America is right? If this is all real, his approval numbers likely grow and his base gets fired up. Reagan got a bump back in the day.

You don't have to like that, but it's not misinformation to speculate on how this plays out. These images will be used for the rest of this race.

I'm sorry but this isn't "world news" to me. Random drunken tragedies are hardly something useful to keep me informed on what is happening in the world.

16 years ago, that was Reddit for me.

Guess we'll see.

Opposite conclusions drawn from Al Jazeera, Channel 4, and Forensic Architecture, from just what I've seen.

An independent investigation must be allowed.

Ok great. Do it.

"I used to have support for the Native Americans, but then a tribe massacred an outpost on the land that was slowly being carved from them by colonizers. Now I've lost all goodwill for their struggle"

The indigenous, oppressed peoples proceed to get wiped out and the colonizing states take over the entire land mass

This type of violence does not need to celebrated. It should be mourned as tragic. Its perpetrators condemned.

But so many are applying fairness or rules to a conflict that has neither.

If you create the conditions for war and terrorism, do not be surprised when war and terrorism come.

I honestly hate stories like this. What is the use of knowing this? Who does it benefit to hear this story and proliferate it?

So we can all go "wow what a monster" in the comments?

How many things happened today that actually will affect our lives instead?

I've been busy all day, but I've just seen through talking with others how threads is basically blowing up today and lots of our local Twitter accounts, companies, bigger celebrities/influencers and more are going to it and sharing their accounts.

And it just makes me so fucking sad to see people embrace Facebook again when a decentralized, grassroots, non corporate alternative was already right there. It's a lot of "liberal" people, too.

Have accurate assessments of US politics, socioeconomics, and foreign policy

If the comment was about "black people causing the most crime in the US", would you think it's worth listening to? Something having citations and being written in a "civil" tone does not necessarily mean it's high level discourse.

Some people hear dog whistles. Some don't.
