I just set up a new dedicated AI server that is quite fast by my standards. I have it running with OpenWebUI and would like to integrate it with other services. I think it would be cool to have something like copilot where I can be writing code in a text editor and have it add a readme function or something like that. I have also used some RAG stuff and like it, but I think it would be cool to have a RAG that can access live data, like having the most up to date docker compose file and nginx configs for when I ask it about server stuff. So, what are you integrating your AI stuff with, and how can I get started?

Tire recommendations (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 month ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hello. I am looking for a budget all rounder tire in a 235 60 r18. Something under $160 would be good. I'm currently looking at the Goodyear Assurance Finesse but would be open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

So don't take this the wrong way, but I do like cars. I am also against car dependency. I just wanted to make this post here to start a discussion about the benefits of lower speed limits in cities and towns, investment in effective public transit and non car-centric infrastructure, and other "anti-car" policies for car people. My goal with this post is to list the benefits of these policies for car people as I see it, and to hear other opinions on this topic.

  1. Stroads suck. I am a car person and would rather bike on a well-designed street than drive on a stroad.
  2. Congestion - I like to drive. Most people I know would rather not and would take other forms of transit if there were viable alternatives. If people who just want to go from a to b had viable alternatives, roads would be free for the people who want or need to be in cars.
  3. Safety - I don't want to kill pedestrians. I don't want to wreck my car. I'm fine with driving fast on a country road where I can see for miles and know that there is nothing in front of me to hit. If I do crash, it was my fault, and it doesn't endanger others. However, cities should have lower speed limits to keep pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers safe.
  4. Traffic flow - Where I live, there is a 45 mph speed limit down one of the main roads, but I rarely reach 45 during peak usage times because of traffic. Lower speeds would make traffic flow more manageable and allow car traffic through at a higher average speed.

I feel like the name "Fuck Cars" presents a false dichotomy between well thought out urban design and cars. Good urban design opposes car dependency (which I am against) not cars themselves. With that, I would like to leave you with a few questions: What role should cars play in an ideal world? How would or do you talk to car enthusiasts about this stuff? Do you hate cars or car dependency?

Also because this is fuck cars, fuck some cars. Fuck cars with shitty modified exhausts in built up areas. Fuck cars that run catless exhausts. Fuck big ass trucks and SUVs that run over children to dodge environmental regulations. Especially fuck squatted trucks. Fuck the car manufacturers who lobby to create car dependency and manufacture the child-crushing SUVs.

I took a practice test (math) and would like to have it be graded by a LLM since I can't find the key online. I have 20GB VRAM, but I'm on intel Arc so I can't do gemma3. I would prefer models from ollama.com 'cause I'm not deep enough down the rabbit hole to try huggingface stuff yet and don't have time to right now.

I feel like one of the more important things to take away from this is the wildly different degrees to which various students use ai. Yes, 90% may use it, but there is a huge difference between "check following paper for grammar errors: ..." and "write me a paper on the ethics of generative AI," though an argument could be made that both are cheating. But there are things like "explain Taylor series to me in an intuitive way." Like someone else here pointed out, a 1-2 minute conversation would be a very easy way for professors to find people who cheated. There seems to be a more common view (I see it a LOT on Lemmy) that all AI is completely evil and anything with a neural network is made by Satan. Nuance exists.

I use airvpn with an always on server setup, port forwarding, and constant seeding. If you're okay with manually using a wireguard or openvpn client instead of an airvpn specific client it works great.

Edit Plus, they have a progressive pricing thing that lets you buy a few days for like 2€ just to test stuff.

From what I've heard it's someone who really doesn't know what they're doing making it, and it has a ton of obvious security issues that the dev refuses to acknowledge. It really isn't something that people should actually use.

I messed up. My server's boot drive failed and I have no backups and have been unsuccessful in recovering any data. It contained the docker container and data for qbittorrent, meaning all the torrent files for the torrents I was seeding are all gone. I still have the files themselves which are intact on a separate raid. The problem Is I don't know how to continue seeding them because I don't have the original torrent files or magnet links or anything. Does anyone know how I can search for torrents that match the files I have, or do I simply have to replace everything one by one in order to continue seeding? Thank you everyone in advance. Also, I should mention that I am currently working on putting together a backup server as soon as parts arrive in a few days.

Basically title, but I can provide some information.

I'm looking to spend no more than $300 or so. I'm not well versed in different filaments (I'll be honest, I know nothing) or really anything about 3d printing, but I want to be able to print cup holders for someone I know whose vehicle has none, I imagine heat resistance and strength would be important there. I also do robotics now and would like to be able to make my own small robot chassis and parts. I'm also a Linux user and like FOSS, which I believe is fairly compatible with 3d printing, so I would like to find a printer that doesn't make me use proprietary software and that I can use with Fedora Linux without too much hassle. I know I'm new to this, and I know I'm in other hobbies where people post things like: "I want to spend no more than 6 dollars to get artificial superintelligence running on an Arduino Nano," so I hope this isn't that, and sorry if it is. Thanks in advance.

Seriously though, does anyone know how to use openwebui with the new version?

Edit: if you go into the ollama container using sudo docker exec -it bash, then you can pull models with ollama pull llama3.1:8b for example and have it.

I know audio fingerprinting intro skippers have existed now for a while. I just heard about media segments being introduced. Is there any project that combines the two to make an intro skipper that (eventually, ik segments aren't supported on most clients yet) work on other clients?

I got a new monitor somewhat recently, and I have noticed it causing interference with my wifi card (Ax210, not sure what brand). The wifi gets really slow (like 1/10 speed, sometimes dropping connections) when the monitor is plugged in and goes back to normal when unplugged. I've tried multiple hdmi cables but it still does it. I know you can buy antennas that can be moved, but I'm not sure where to start looking for them. Does anyone have any recommendations or info?

Edit: solution was putting aluminum foil around GPU Iowa and cable

As far as I know it wouldn't, but Kamala is VP, so if he resigned she would be the 47th president for the remainder of Biden's term. The joke is that the trump merch says 47 but now it would technically be 48 and they'd have to make new stuff.

This happened at a very inopportune time so apologies for the text being a bit bad. background: framework laptop 13 with 7640 u running fedora 40. ran great for a few months. issue: played some games on battery power. battery health went from mid 90's to 43. i know playing on battery is bad for it but that is more what i'd expect if I took a hammer to it. what i've tried: rebooted, cleared upower history, removed 90% charge limit in bios then shut down and charged.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Edit: I ran it out of battery while on the bios screen then charged it to full before powering it on. Battery health is now showing 91%. I'll see if it lasts, but I'm glad I didn't just go out and buy a battery without troubleshooting first.

Basically title. I think the whole ACT test prep industry is just completely scummy, but I do need to take it. Does anyone know where to find stuff like this? I'm sure the demand exists considering how much they jack up the prices for this kind of stuff. Thanks in advance.

I'm on a new domain now anyway. I will be more careful on this one, but I suspect they just didn't look into it. I do really appreciate that you seem to be both knowledgeable and not an asshole. That seems to be a rare combination to find in this thread.

I kept it up for more than a year. By friends I mean like 3 people I know in real fucking life, and I made them all set secure passwords. Way to assume the worst about people, it is a very healthy attitude to have.

[-] [email protected] 86 points 1 year ago

I don't have this problem exactly, but what I would recommend is putting it in a specific separate library. You could even set it up so only your mother's account can access it, and you never have to see it, or you could have it visible but never go to it.

Wow code with actual comments???!!!! Amazing!

I am disappointed that this does not appear to be a post about building a server into your car.

A lot of physical media has DRM. I am for anything that can't be taken away, whether it is a torrented file, a DRM-free stream, or a DRM-free physical copy.

I don't know, but I also don't think you should. They are one of the few reasonably ethical platforms so unless you truly can't afford it or have an ethical reason I don't know of I would pay. They do occasionally promote proprietary software but are still far more ethical than any other platform.
