Sometimes I put my thumb in it when I don't know what to do with my hands.
Pocket watch. Isn't that the intended purpose of the small pocket?
It is called a Watch Pocket or a Fob Pocket.
Daily- I put my rings in it when I take them off to cook or whatever.
Not the small pocket on jeans, but I do have some pants and shorts that have a small pocket fully inside the other pocket that I like to put my keys in
Keeps them from rattling around and scratching things
Bike key or coins. We call them coin pockets for a reason.
I put cool rocks in there.

Every time I unintentionally find it. Mostly for being annoyed at it even being a feature.
All the time for my lactose intolerant pills
I use it every day for a small Swiss army knife.
I'd put a penny in there so that the pocket has a use. Otherwise, nothing.
Maybe next time an onion.
My biggest test for wireless earbuds is if the case is small enough to fit in that pocket. The usefulness of that is incredible, it's like they're not there.

I don't use a wallet and put my bank card and id card in it, I don't need anything else
I have a pen knife I use for work. It's an excellent fit for the coin pocket

Also fits a vape, a lighter, your house key (when you want to go out with nothing else on you), a couple guitar picks, or a few coins if you use one of those fancy new wallets that only hold cards and bills.
I keep quarters there; Iike to shoot pool in bars. Also my wedding ring when I take it off to wash my hands, cook, or do other work I don't want to wear it for.

All the time now! When I bought my flashlight (Sofirn SC-21) I learned that it fits perfect so that's where it goes now
In my younger days of hitting the club, I would use it every time I went out. Wallet in right back pocket, lip gloss in small pocket.
I never use it now. Now it's wallet in left back pocket, phone in right back pocket, keys in right front pocket, earbuds in left front pocket. If I'm working and wearing cargo pants, work gloves go in left back pocket and wallet shifts to a more secure left leg pocket, pens and box cutter in right leg pocket.

Sometimes I'll toss a Zippo lighter in there if I'm going out drinking or something. Otherwise, it's unused. My pockets only have my wallet (which has its own change purse), my phone, and a handkerchief (living in hot and humid areas means lots of sweat wiping). Keys get clipped to a belt loop. I'm generally not carrying anything else and it will likely end up in a bag of some sort if I am (especially when I lived down in Tokyo and was away from home generally unless sleeping and was taking public transit).
Zippo lighter, to light my to-go joints. Sometimes a pen but most of my pants it's too short and it looks silly.

I used to only use it for random change I'd get on the rare occasion I'd pay for something with cash. Nowadays it's always filled with dog treats since my dog is nearly always with me.
