Tens of thousands of Palestinians were fleeing Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, on Saturday, after Israeli warnings to evacuate before an imminent military assault that will open a bloody new phase of the seven-month-long conflict.

Roads leading out of Rafah were choked with long columns of young and old, sick and healthy, riding in overloaded pick-up trucks and battered cars, in pony carts and on hand-pulled trolleys. Many walked, carrying their belongings, under a searing summer sun. Some were pushed in wheelchairs or even carried.

More than 150,000 people have fled Rafah – one of the largest displacements for many months – since the Israel Defense Forces ordered the evacuation of eastern neighbourhoods shortly before seizing the border crossing with Egypt to the east of the city on Tuesday in what the IDF said was a “precise, limited operation” to stop Hamas smuggling weapons or funds into Gaza.

Where the fuck do they go?

From tiktok streams and videos, a lot are fleeing north, against the advisement of the Israeli government/IDF.

Who would trust their advice at this point?

[–] Tryptaminev@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago

Well Rafah is the southernmost point of Gaza. The only direction they can flee is north.

Thanks for the info.

Man, I don’t think I could devise a way to more rapidly turn the vast majority of the civilized world against my country if I tried. Netanyahu is turning Israel into a pariah state.

There is and the IDF murderers will all burn in hell for all eternity. Maybe they even get to share the same fires as the Nazis

Joe Biden, solely responsible for decades of conflict in the region that has recently come to a head.

We must go back 3000 years to understand the nuances of sending weapons to israel so they can commit Genocide.

[–] rigatti@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Yo I want him to cut aid to Israel too, but pinning the blame solely on him is asinine.

[–] timidgoat@lemmy.ca 17 points 11 months ago

To be completely fair, I don't think anyone is blaming Biden for all of the conflict between Zionists and Palestinians historically. What we are blaming him for is facilitating the last 7 months of blatant genocide and ethnic cleansing by sending money and weapons to Israel and defending them at every turn. without Biden's unwavering support, the last 7 months would look a hell of a lot different for Palestinians.

We don't. But when Israel announced on the 10. October that they will starve the population, that their focus is on damage, that they are fighting "Human animals" and that they don't see any uninvolved civilians, that was the moment to stop it. And every single day since was a good moment to stop it. And form there on he holds full responsibility.

We must never forget that the US accepted and supported through their actions the Lebensraum expansion of illegal terror settlements into the occupied Palestinian territories.

He's literally the guy in charge

The IDF should be renamed to IAF or IKF
