I checked out a few episodes into the Capaldi run - not really his fault - and every second sentence in this article made me go "wait, what?"
What parts of it were confusing?
It got really really good.
His was a bit rough at the start but built up to some of the best episodes of Dr Who.
It was honestly more about me than him. I tend to trail off from media after about six years, regardless of fixation. Any criticism at the time would've been lingering Moffat burnout.
Though I was nudged toward letting go thanks to BBC America's broadcasting mix being too quiet to fucking hear him. I speak English! I shouldn't need subtitles for a show made in Britain!
Well, okay, I shouldn't need subtitles to watch a show made in England.
Depending on the accent I still need subtitles. And even then sometimes the people writing them just give up when met with some accents
I used to have problems hearing people over background sounds, and I finally just turned all my audio settings to mono. Yeah, you lose some of the impact of the soundtrack, but explosions don't blow your ears out and you can actually hear people speak.
