Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

I have an RTLSDR connected to satnogs. It's not a huge setup but it's mine.
Thanks for letting me know about the community!

Take a look now my child.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest. Lord, we lift up your name, with hearts full of praise. Be exalted, O Lord my God; hosanna in the highest.
Would you consider Earth's moon an amateur satellite or a professional? I mean, she's been doing it for a really long time. But IDK if she does it as a hobby or to pay the bills.
Any ham radio communutues you'd recommend?
Been considering it as a hobby in case shit goes down
I just know there's
[email protected]
[email protected] (far more active)
[email protected] (basically dead)
The community from the old place is pretty active, I wish more of them would flow over here.
I think the top post here has a few hundred upvotes, and the average upvote count is ~20, but people gonna go where they feel they will get the most engagement.

Because it's mine and it's empty now as I had to wipe my lemmy server (it never worked OK, super sluggish, the federation was skipping more and more, and the database was over 10GB).
I'll try to make it live again :-)
Edit: [email protected] thanks brb!
Too many to list!

As long as one person is active in the community, it still lives for another day.
“Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room.” — The Dalai Lama
"We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say it’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem, then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes." — Fred Rogers
“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” ― Edward Everett Hale

I hereby invite all ya'll to join and contribute your favorite Tom Swifty jokes to [email protected]
If you're unfamiliar with the format, they're jokes where the described manner of speaking is a pun on what's said, eg.
"Have you heard me singing in church?" Tom inquired.

I mainly used the other site for niche microinterests, but because Fedi itself is so niche too, that means the venn diagram doesn't have enough overlap to sustain these communities. And sadly I'm not sure if it ever will.
I'm honestly surprised to see how large the Splatoon community on the Fediverse is. I've seen a pretty big presence on Mastodon, as well.
I play American mahjong, is that allowed over there?
Well considering the community appears to be completely dead, I doubt anyone's gonna care either way...
I would really like to see more BSD related content here since I really want to get into using BSD :D
I'd like to see a community for TV/Streaming Series like /r/television. There are several atm but none is very active.
