The trick is, I never switched to chrome.

I went from IE to firefox back in 2009 or so and never had a reason to switch. Firefox is a nice browser.

Switch to Firefox? By Mozilla? The company that just said they are ramping up ads and AI garbage?

Good luck.

Firefox is FOSS. Just use a privacy oriented fork of it :)

[–] [email protected] 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

So say I'm dumb and don't know how to find a fork like that...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I would search “Firefox forks for privacy” or something like that

Librewolf is the one i use

Awesome, much appreciated!

how many people will do this though? most people don't even bother switching away from chrome...

That’s fine. My goal is not to evangelize people and force everyone to use he same thing. A lot of people will stick to chrome, and other people will use Firefox, and even smaller subset will use privacy oriented forks of Firefox. Get this mf some diversity.

the benefits of it only come around if a bunch of people are doing it.

whats bad about this is google's monopoly and influence over the market, not individual people's preferences.

Compared to Google they are saints.

Do~~n't be~~ evil

Sadly Mozilla is not immune to following the dumb fads that run through Silicon Valley, but Firefox is still clearly the best browser option.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

I agree. I'm using it right now!

But they have certainly been outlining some poor decisions in the last few weeks.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago

Sooooo ALL of the things google is doing even harder?

I switch to FF like 2 years ago

or Edge which fully supports Manifest V2

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

...For now. Looks like they're going to get rid of it too (which makes sense, because they copy Chromium's codebase).

Or Vivaldi, which also supports V2 and doesn't come from Microsoft

Started using Firefox for all video related sites. Blocks ads in Paramount plus and others

Because ad blocker works. I basically only use chrome for Gmail now and work stuff. Eventually I'll use it for everything

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I got so tired of the "update chrome because new zero day" articles so I removed chrome altogether from every computer I own except the work one because one specific vendor's schematics work in chrome and are broken in the other browsers. I haven't looked back and I don't think I will.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

I've never enjoyed Firefox, don't know why but it's just never felt better for me. Whether it be looks or something else, dunno

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

only if firefox weren't pushing everyone back.
