I mean, best timeline outcome is that federal spending goes significantly down, thereby lowering tax burden, which enables the not-fucked states to pick up the slack and provide those services themselves.

The fucked states get even more fucked, though.

You think our taxes will go down? They're more likely to go up because they'll have privatized replacements and those don't save money.

Not to mention, last time around, the GOP weaponized tax code against blue states (putting a super low cap on state tax deductions). I expect more of the same this time - and I also don’t expect it’ll JUST be tax code stuff either.

This is the problem with conservatism. In a vacuum, being fiscally responsible is good! But apparently, to them, having empathy towards people in worse situations is apparently impossible.
