Given the fact that New Labour invested heavily in the NHS which saw big improvements, you'd think he might suggest something more along the lines of investing heavily in the NHS. It's not rocket surgery.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and either a link to reputable news source, or be a text post.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
We are friends with [email protected], a uk news community on a more general site.
PFI was a financial timebomb though
Oh indeed. New Labour's handling of the NHS wasn't perfect but they brought waiting times down and things just worked better. The queues I've seen snaking out the back of A&E looks more like something from a warzone. An old.guy from my local died after a 7 hour wait after having a stroke, at the times the queues were longer than 24 hours.
Problem is the vig on those deals
Didn't they "invest in the NHS" by paying private hospitals to take the burden? PPP or something?
They introduce a raft of policies, some good, some bad - PPI was probably the worst of them.
Why are people listening to him? Fuck!
The new labour leadership is as neoliberal as this guy.
Oh Tony no, of all people not you
What happened to Tony's mental health starting circa 2001?
Really, really not.
Says the genius behind PPPs.
Fuck you, Mr Blair.
I'd love to see your Health stock portfolio, Mr Blair.
