Rules

  1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
  2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
  3. The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.

The usual instance-wide rules also apply.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it's name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub's intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don't get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama

Good reminder as it really is just tiring to read supposed drama when the banned user post it here just to seek validation when they are in the wrong.

Sure this will just redirect it to that other community but it would be a start.

Whoops I broke that rule

@blaze

Are you a Fediverse unofficial mascot?

Doing all this hard work modding the entire place, just wanted to let you know that your labour is very much appreciated!

Seeing a lot of good communities getting seed over last few months. Creating enough depth for new shit posters to make that switch from parasite ran reddit.

I think this rule could use a little discretion in terms of enforcement. On one hand it is harder for someone to come across drama without being tangentially involved, a neutral observer isn't always easy to find. On the other, the rule is good because too many times this community was being used to vent by one of the main instigators of the drama.

[email protected] is only good for Mod abuse, it's not for any of the other types of drama, like harassment, or persistent/aggressive trolls.

I'm sure we can extend the scope to those as well

@[email protected] , what do you think?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nah that would be out of scope.

Thanks for confirming!

Personally I feel like that should be it’s own separate community since those people aren’t really powertripping, they’re just being assholes. Powertripping is something only community mods can really do.

I remember suggesting such community a few weeks ago on [email protected], majority of people preferred to avoid it: https://feddit.org/post/5768311

Maybe we can suggest again, or maybe it's too early

I very much disagree with their sentiment considering that many offenses like harassment and ban evasion are quite serious. I've dealt with some of that from one specific user (who went as far as to threaten to kill me) and the fact that people are still unaware of the real problem associated with that user is preventing them from being banned, and causing people to just go off about things that are not actually problems.

Probably would suggest to wait for a while, or maybe just do it and let people come. People who hate [email protected] don't have to use it or browse it do they? No they don't, but it provides awareness for abusive moderation, despite the fact many abusive mods despise it.

Something like this for users though should only be done for serious offenses, like harassment, threats, or encouragement of suicide, and callouts should only really be made when a user is directly involved in the situation.

I'll wait a few days. Ping me again here next week and we can open another thread to discuss with people potentially interested

Nah, set up a Drama Sub, that's what it is, really

The new community should probably try to have a more distinct name to help distinguish from the current fediverselore+drama community

Maybe something around "trolls"? Like trollingbastards, in the same spirit of [email protected]

And host it on sh.itjust.works for a combo

Drag conducted an experiment involving some already-existing drama that drag wasn't involved in, to find out more. Can drag publish the results of the experiment here? Drag's involvement was purely exploratory.
