Hey that's cool!

If your current ceo is still in place when it's time for me to renew, I'm gone.

Great tip! Thanks!

Mullvad is amazing. Never tried Posteo.

Why them? Are their CEOs anti-Trump?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

I don't think anti-trump is a strict requirement.

Not publicly and directly messaging a known rapist and convicted felon to let him know you think he's doing a good job "standing up for the little guy" would probably suffice.

What have I missed? Who is the CEO and what did they do?

Thanks, was seriously considering Proton mail. Think I’m just going to set up my own mail server.

Think I’m just going to set up my own mail server.

Don’t, it’s not worth it for a multitude of reasons.

My exact thoughts, except I cancelled my auto-renewal and emailed support asking for a refund (and mentioning why). This way they find out sooner than later that this type of action is losing them business and can take corrective actions. I will likewise return if they change up their leadership in the future.

It's not "damage control", they've been doing this sort of thing for many years.

Ehh acting just like another corpo...

I bet those endless ads they shove up my ass as paying customer is also andy's idea.

No, i don't need your entire product line up. I bought what I need, leave me the fuck alone Andy... aint you got some orange man's dick to suck?

Disgusting

I’ve been with them since the beginning, and they’ve been doing donations like this for years as part of their annual raffles.

actions >> words

Edit: I'd rather a guy that loves Trump, but is accepting in person and spends their time volunteering on the weekend, than a self-proclaimed leftist that spends their time criticizing everyone while not doing shit about anything, and using their politics to justify their stealing habit. The former can be reasoned with. The latter is just using leftism as an excuse.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Preferring a theoretical instance of a person over a contrived (though admittedly occasionally real) example makes for a good soundbite, not necessarily a real option though.

Or more succinctly, a literal trump loving person who is also accepting is a unicorn with some serious cognitive dissonance.

A "radical" leftist who is also a shitty person is a real thing that can exist.

Comparisons between real things and imaginary things, aren't good comparisons.

Edit : where did "stealing habit" come from I can't find any reference anywhere else? Genuine question, I may have missed it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I guess he is talking about "handouts".

Norway taxes the oil industry in 78% so they can give "handouts" to their people....that miserable country of thieves...

Radical leftism made Norway one of the worst countries in the world to live in.

(/s.....because it's necessary.)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Ah, that tracks.

I'll wait and see if they reply, maybe it's something else.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago

Totally agree.

Fuck that fascist dickhead.

Their unilateral support for the orange nazi. Before someone says it's blown out of proportion let me say this. The CEO of Proton stated his personal beliefs, then doubled down via Official Proton Accounts aka: supporting the orange nazi is unironically their political stance now.

I assume they are referring to the CEO getting all hot and heavy with Trump in the company's official messaging.

Oh for sure.

Damn, I came here to post this, I just got the email now. I laughed as soon as I saw it, it's so obviously damage control. The whole email is "Oooh, look at us, we're truly good, nothing of note has happened lately other than us being good and doing good things!"

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They do this every year. It is not related to their recent US politics drama, and its not damage control.

I guess you see what you want to see.
