My friend got something called a knife last summer. It heats up so you can cut the big rocks, or use it to slide the concentrate into the rig easily. I just saw Yocan has one that came out a month or 2 ago called the Dirk which I am thinking about getting. I have the Yocan Cubex for over a year and it's basically all I use now.
Here's a link to the knife: https://www.yocanvaporizer.com/products/yocan-dirk-hot-knife?variant=44624417587389
I went ahead and tried a couple suggestions from this thread. Last time I went to a head shop I asked about hot knives based on your suggestion. I ended up getting this one from Puffco (the price in the store was lower than that on the website, but it's the same product.)
A hot knife was a fantastic recommendation! It's simple to use, charges in no time, and is ridiculously easy to keep clean. This is exactly the solution I was looking for. Thank you so much!
Skilletools has a good selection of dabblers with tips designed for various textures.
With budders I use something with a dagger tip and wipe the product on the side of the cup.
Try to grab a dab tool kit. It usually has 3 different shaped tools.
The best all-rounder imo which I used to serve on a dab bar is the spoon shaped ones. Next is a shovel head one.
Runny concentrate is usually a lot more workable when it's cold. Have you tried putting it in a freezer for a bit?
I went and tried a couple things from this thread, so I wanted to provide some follow-up in case anybody's curious.
Freezing concentrate worked great! The texture of a gooey budder became much more like workable sugar. It also became much easier to dose and I noticed no difference in performance (it heated up just as well and provided the same hit.) Thank you for the suggestion!
Glad it worked out for you!
For hash I prefer to use a dynavap with the concentrate sandwiched in either herb or japanese cotton. The metal tip the herb and concentrate is housed in is heated electrically by the wand induction heater.
