[–] NarrativeBear@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Might explain why the world's going crazy.

It'll probably end up being far more devastating than lead. At this rate of growth, within decades the average adult will accumulate a few % of their body weight in plastic.

[–] NarrativeBear@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately you're more then likely correct. Lead exposure/ingestion is devastating (and so might be plastic ingestion as well)

A few effects (not a exhaustive list)

Behavioral problems, Developmental delays, Brain and nervous system damage, Learning disorders, Loss of self-control, and shortened attention span

Are we talking a coke spoon or more like a ladle here?

The article says “the weight of a plastic spoon”; odd that they didn’t use a standard unit of measurement.

Probably a shovel in the next few years, and then wheelbarrow's after that.

Generation's after us, most newborn's will probably be born synthetic right away.

Full on spoon spoon.

[–] MyDogLovesMe@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Probably half a cup in my testis.

…I wonder if I fell in the water, if that would make me float upside down?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just the one? Left or right?

[–] MyDogLovesMe@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

Left. Lost my right in an elementary school pen-accident.

[–] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

I think I'm more plastic than man now. Guess I'll go out into the ocean and choke some sea turtles. I see now that that was always my destiny

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That's all?
