Summary

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reinstate funding for foreign aid programs after nonprofits challenged a 90-day funding freeze.

Judge Amir Ali ruled that suspending all congressionally approved aid without justification likely violated the law, citing "irreparable harm" to affected organizations.

The freeze had halted 230 USAID grants, shuttered small businesses, and left aid supplies stranded.

The White House argues the pause ensures funds align with its foreign policy. Another judge separately blocked USAID employee layoffs and mission closures.

The damage is done though. These programs will take years to recover. People have been shipped home. Supplies have been wasted. Medications have been missed. Treatments have been stopped. It's a fucking fiasco.

Also, it's that the contractors won't dare spend a dime or allow any billable work until this case is done. They're betting on simply getting paid on this year's funding for work already done, and that's it.

my guess is they couldn't comply even if they wanted to because the money's already been siphoned-off.

Not that there's much reason to be charitable towards Musk, but if you're in the mood:

Even if you don't think so, they've essentially been grabbing handfuls of cables and yanking then out, no guarantees they even know HOW to restore everything how it was.

He won't because he does not care about the law.

Not going to read a CBS news story, they have already capitulated.

feed the post title to a search engine (a little easier on desktop than mobile, i suppose: click and drag, right click, search for...) and third entry down (second to cbs was abc) on my ddg gives:

I'm afraid you will run out of sources soon because every media outlet in the U.S. will have to kowtow to Trump demands if they want to stay in business. Even the foreign ones with U.S. bureaus.
