I updated the community sidebar with a nice GIF by KAKTUZBOY. Tell me what you think!
-
I also created a new 'Family Communities' category for 'Music' with related communities on Lemmy. If you're a mod of a music community and want to see it there, send me a PM.
-
The 'Family Communities' are now organized with 'tabs', so it's easier to read and keeps the sidebar smaller.

➤ Simple Guidelines
➧1. Include the original album name, author and year of release. If you do not know some of the required information, state that in either the title or top-level comment e.g. [Author/s - Album Name (Unknown Year)]. The reason we ask for this information is that you can only search on the content of post titles, not comments.
➧2. No low-effort/low-quality posts. Posts made to c/albumartporn are expected to be of high quality and have serious effort put behind them. The album cover should be clean, not have any urls/website watermarks in them.
➧3. Be Original
➧4. Be respectful. Harassment, abuse, name calling, and/or threats of any kind is not tolerated here. Any content, whether an image or a comment, that includes any kind of bigoted language or hate speech will be met with a permanent ban.
➧5. No off-topic Content Never post anything that is off-topic (i.e. not album art) or that contains gory material.
➧6. No spam or reposts. Do not submit more than one of the same post/comment on this community or across multiple communities. In addition, please wait at least 3 months before reposting an image that has already been posted to c/albumartporn, and do not repost from the top of all time.
➧7. No advertisement or self-promotion. Do not use this community to advertise or self-promote. This includes (but is not limited to) websites, articles, blog posts, and brands.
➧8. No memes, gifs, videos, audios. Just album covers
➧9. Tag NSFW Posts · Nudity: Obvious, implied or strategically covered · Content that is “sexually explicit”. Gore, both human and non-human is not allowed. No spam.
➠Feel free to report any content that does not respect these rules.

After the update of lemmy.world to the latest Lemmy version, posts submitted by users in this instance now show as a 'image' instead of a link in Mastodon. If you're interested in following the community on Mastodon: https://your-mastodon.instance/@albumartporn@lemmy.world or search for @albumartporn@lemmy.world
If you only want to see the album covers, follow the hashtag: #albumartporn (of course, this way, there's a chance that content from outside the community may appear.)
Integration is still not perfect, but it's a way of keeping up to date and 'boost' albums on there.
Rule 7 I think should only cover self promotion , don't see problem with direct links to songs
That's the thing, I'm asking feedback about it so music artists on Lemmy/Fediverse can post their album covers and share their work without being deleted by this rule. Also, I want to edit the rule to make possible to post links to Bandcamp/videoclips, etc... possible.
Oh, so you do want artists to be able to post their own album art here? Because the current rule does sound like that is not allowed. I do think it should be allowed, but I am not sure of exactly how you might word it to prevent a user from spamming all their music even when the album art is not all that great.
Yes, that's the ideia. To allow people on lemmy/fediverse to post their own album covers. To prevent spam, there's 'Rule 6', that would be more explicit for this case.
I don't think gore should be banned, it just need to be tagged as nsfw. I don't like Photon UI and Tesseract so i don't filter with flair, although it is useful. I hope flair will be a standard
And not to be an annoying vegan, but where is the line drawn between gore and a butcher shop? Or a raw steak ready to be cooked?
If an artist decide thst a butcher shop is rhe best album cover for his album, i don't know why it can't be shared with a nsfw tag so people who don't to see gore doesn't see it
Thank you for your feedback. I'm going to see how can I make the rule more clear.
I wasn't even aware we had flairs in Lemmy - - good thing!
Technically, Lemmy itself does not support flairs. It is just a feature in a couple particular third-party clients. It is useful for users of those clients, but also implemented in a way that in clients that do not support it, titles will not look weird or anything.
