A pathology examination found a lead air gun pellet in the animal’s gizzard and very high concentrations of lead in his level and bone. The source of the pellet is unknown, the organization said in a statement.

Biodiversity is a term used to describe the enormous variety of life on Earth. It can be used more specifically to refer to all of the species in one region or ecosystem. Biodiversity refers to every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans. Scientists have estimated that there are around 8.7 million species of plants and animals in existence. However, only around 1.2 million species have been identified and described so far, most of which are insects. This means that millions of other organisms remain a complete mystery.
Over generations, all of the species that are currently alive today have evolved unique traits that make them distinct from other species. These differences are what scientists use to tell one species from another. Organisms that have evolved to be so different from one another that they can no longer reproduce with each other are considered different species. It's a bit more than a Sigh. Some fucker shot that bird. Perhaps they would like to feel the effects of lead in their gut?
Re-reading the article, I understand the poor soul probably ate carrion that was shot with lead. I think my comment still stands.
Some fucker shot some other innocent creature and left its corpse full of poisonous lead bullets. The gizzard is a muscular pouch where (toothless) birds grind their food against pebbles, or in this case ground a lead pellet.
The EPA is dead. I have a feeling a whole lot of us is will be facing the consequences of our own actions and inaction. We're going to be forced into really looking at the parts of ourselves we like to pretend belong to others, but certainly not us, and if it is us, it's different for reasons.
You have an obligation to protect the Earth! I suspect many of us will make popular and correct but extremely cool and illegal choices in the near future.
