Awesome. Planning to pick up Lumia as my first Atelier game. Played the demo on Steam Deck and was surprised how well it ran. Glad that it seems like a good place to start

thx for sharing this guide. I had no clue every game is part of a trilogy. Firis for example was probably not a good starting point, but i bought just something back then.

Atelier Firis remains my least favorite game in the series and I'd have likely never played more Atelier games if this was the first taste I had of it.

It was my first ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Its funny because Firis is one of my favourites in spite of its flaws, that trilogy had the best crafting mechanics in general and Firis was a great midpoint, and the feeling of adventure in it was strong.

Ohh i think the crafting in Firis was kind of interresting without much comparison to other titles. But i haven't finished the game, so can't say much about it.

I picked up a couple of these over the years, they're very solid JRPG type games, highly recommend if that's your thing, as long as you enjoy some crafting mechanics as well. Only played the Ryza ones so far and she's a fairly typical bubbly protagonist. Though only has Japanese dialogue so need to use subtitles if you're not proficient with that one. Maybe newer ones are different but they were quite fun to me.

Oh, that's another thing--the series apparently dropped English voices halfway through. I ended up just switching over to JP anyway once I heard that.

Good article! One thing it doesn't mention is pricing. Even going back to Atelier Rorona, the games are little spendy for how old they are, but they do go on sale regularly.

I'm still getting started with the series myself, and my favorite so far has been Meruru, which I certainly enjoyed more because of the previous games in the Arland arc. I think pretty much anywhere is okay to jump in, though, if there are platform/availability concerns.

Played the Yumia demo and just purchased. First day one Atelier game for me. First one on Steam instead of Switch. Really excited for Steam cloud saves and performance stability
