It needs to come with a disclaimer saying 'you will not be as good of parents as the fictional cartoon dogs and that is ok' first, otherwise I strongly agreed
So I'm not the only one who developed an inferiority complex with a fictional cartoon dog?
My dad was a deadbeat, I have no idea what functional fathering looks like first hand.
I have lost my temper at my daughter and thought "That wasnt very Bandit of you." Made myself go and apologise for raising my voice, talking about why daddy got frustrated and how she should do what I ask or listen better but that doesnt make it ok that I yelled.
God bless that glorious blue bastard for setting me a high bar to aim for.

It teaches parents just as much (or maybe even more) as kids, it exposes many people to a different culture and it's a great way to bond with your children compared to say a book on parenting.
Plus that theme song has burned its way into my brain... Bingo!

Maybe those writers just had good parents, and they're writing what they know.
I wouldn't know, but I hear some people have good parents.
