There’s of course the quote of DJT saying “Vote, one last time and you won’t have to vote again after that” at some evangelical event before the election. But the way I know is because unlike his first term, he has completely stopped holding rallies for his supporters.

Yes, there is no third term announced yet, but I’m sure he and his sycophants will engineer a crisis to ensure marshal law can be invoked or some other measure to let him rule till death like daddy Vladdy.

He stopped feeling accountable to his base, which is the first time since he’s gotten into politics. He knows if there ever was accountability again in government, he and Muskrat are absolutely done.

Lots of dictatorships have elections. Elections alone aren't a proof that anything else is happening.

Don't play into the defeatism that Musk and Trump want us all to have. They very much don't want people voting and things like this help them get that. The fight ain't over till it's over

If election didn't matter at all yet, why is Musk putting millions of dollars in ads for the Wisconsin Supreme Court race on April 1st?

There is no legal mechanism he could use to stop elections. Elections are run at state and local level including for federal office. This isn't something he can directly stop himself short of a straight up military coup

Elections are still ongoing right now. There were elections this last Tuesday, and there are plenty of important ones coming up

It’s not defeatism; they’re not saying lie down and take it. They’re pointing out to the morons who just say ‘oh well, he is kinda awful, but he’ll be voted out in four years’ are idiots.

We need to kick him out now. The 2025 playbook says he’s going to use an engineered ‘border crisis’ to declare martial law, and he’s been sticking to that playbook like glue.

He 100% can affect elections, refute their legitimacy, send in "inspectors," or whatever else. And remember even if you think it's not legal, he can't be prosecuted for anything done in an official capacity, and he can pardon anyone who does break federal law.

He can do fucking anything and our only recourse is the legal system, which will take months or years to play out, and ultimately the Supreme Court is on his side even if they don't agree with everything he does.

But there is the question of if he has the balls to do it, if he can do it all in time, if he makes it that far without choking on a hamberder, and how much resistance he encounters. I'm not defeated, just thinking strategically. We may have to prepare to fight for ourselves because the Democratic Party as a whole really cares more about stability than any ideology (and to be fair, it appears in swing states that might be exactly that their constituents largely want, and ideologues would never have gotten elected in the first place).

Democracy must be defended, constantly. Sometimes with blood. Hopefully we aren't there yet, but I wouldn't expect to be rescued and that doesn't mean we are defeated.

Lol. Writing “Elections are still going” is far more dangerous than what I wrote.

Muskrat is funding elections still because the big fix isn’t in yet. Yet him funding these runs is the very definition that they are steering the last remnants of democracy into the volcanic crater.

Every political “investment” by the billionaire class has been to make sure democracy is further undermined. All their actions are pointing to them not needing any further investment past this presidential term.

I’m in strong favour of lethal violence. We must go full Luigi before they have the storm troopers well prepared and everywhere.

What you’re writing invites complacency, what I write (should) invoke violent resistance.

Yes there will, what you are saying is silly and tenuous at best.

Worth reading the comments on my other post my friend.

There's probably some level of confidence he can dismantle elections, but I think he's also just scared of getting shot at again.
