Summary

European tourists traveling to the U.S. face increasing detentions and deportations under the Trump administration, sparking fear and uncertainty.

Several cases involved harsh treatment and lengthy detention despite valid travel permits. U.S. authorities cited visa violations without providing clear reasons.

Critics, including nonprofit leaders and affected families, condemn the actions as excessive and harmful.

Legal challenges against the administration’s immigration policies are mounting, as travelers reconsider visits to the U.S. amid heightened anti-immigrant sentiment.

When the warning comes from a lot of Americans, please take it seriously. Do not come to America! It’s not worth coming here to a third world country. Don’t put yourself, or your family in danger when two non American citizens have been sent to prison because of their renewal for green card. And the conditions within the prison is absolutely horrific and disgusting. So please do not come to America. Wait till the end of the 4 years, and that will depend if we even make it to the first year.

As a person in the states right now? Don’t come here.

I want yall to be able to go back home, cause we all deserve to be able to return home safely at the ‘end of the day’. Don’t come here, and absolutely do not spend your $$ here or on US shit.

I would absolutely not travel to America while Trump is in power. I've wanted to visit again since his first term, but fuck the extra border hassle (+ now the risk of getting sent to gitmo or El Salvador or god knows where for criticizing dear leader) and also fuck supporting an economy he will take credit for.

I feel bad for all the businesses who did nothing wrong. But we live in capitalism and I can't vote/protest there so 🤷‍♂️

Do not come to America this place has been taken over by Nazis.

Just don't come to the US.

Don't care the reason, business, pleasure, or otherwise, just don't come to the US.

You will only threaten your freedom, wellbeing, and/or your life.

Warning from a US'ian.

🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

That includes diplomats, foreign leaders and members of foreign governments. Just stay as far away as you can from the dumpster fire that is this country.

No one under any circumstances should come here. If you are being sent there then refuse. Trust me it does not matter what you might lose as home it is better than losing everything by coming here.

It is worse than my international friends realize.

The US travel and tourism industry contributed nearly USD1.6 trillion to US economy in 2015 or 2.6 percent of its GDP. Travel and tourism exports accounted for 11 percent of all US exports and 33 percent of all US services exports, positioning travel and tourism as the nation's largest services export.

No big deal, let’s just gut one of our single greatest sources of international income. So dumb.

*gasp!*

You suggest, do you sir, that the leadership of this great country may be so incompetent and corrupt as to deny working men and women their fair shake at a reasonable living?!

Oh! I may have the vapors!

Don’t go to the US, it’s overhyped anyway

I've been there twice, first time during 2008 and the security was crazy. Had homeland security already doing background check in the airport at the checkin counter, and while there i had two "VIP" searches due to connecting flights. Next time was just a few months ago, was scared they'd do some nasty searches and checks again but this time it was far more pleasant, signed a form on the internet, although it cost a bit, everything went smootly. I was suprised that the traveling was like going to all other places. The people are great, the food is great and really an overall great experience.

I will NOT set my foot there again as long as Trump is in power and really, i was scared to say anything on the internet before going because he'd already won the election which is quite telling but since biden was still running things i felt safe taking my electronics. Now i doubt they'll ever let me back in 😂

If I was any famous person who does concerts I would limit my concerts to overseas.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 13 hours ago

Same, and it sucks because I want to go to them. But I'd rather they be safe. Ghost is coming and I'm definitely going to the concert. But given everything, including our puritan BS that's flooding everything, I'm definitely concerned for their safety.

I lived in russia for many years (as a minor), while I speak fluent russian and have an understanding of local culture, I and my family (everyone speaks russian) constantly got harassed by security goons, including some almost comical situations where their reflexive racism almost made the outcomes worse for the cops/security. There was also some really mean-spirited stuff; a completely wasted cop aggressively harassing me on a major street without any reason at all other than me walking by, I was in my pre-teens, it got to the point where his colleague had to drag him away and tell me to leave.

But it seems that the Americans (no disrespect to sane Americans) have decided to enter in a competition with the russians. Week long interment without any real reason? This is insane.

The funny thing is that I've also lived in the US and travelled there a lot when I moved to Canada; while there was a lot of what I call "cowboy roleplay", it never got this bad.

Let’s see if Europe retaliates. Get your dual citizenships in order while you can.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

And if you can. Which isn't possible for most.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 18 hours ago

French citizenship in 2 years for study. Portugal and Belgium after living there 5. Spain in 2 if Latin American or Filipino.

I need more coffee

I read that as "detonations"

Though, that's probably the next phase of operation hateful bigot

[–] [email protected] 5 points 17 hours ago

Part of the solution does involve detonations
