  • Following a major lawsuit loss, Meta is mulling the idea of charging a subscription to remove advertising for users in the UK.
  • A similar offer is available in the EU.
  • Advertising is Meta’s biggest money maker so this may simply be a case of talk as the company tries to appease regulators.

Now once this inevitably reaches the US, will this finally be the turning point to get more users off FB?

How much are people willing to pay, to not only avoid ads, but to continue sharing slop around?

It’s going to be one of those things where you pay to remove the obvious ads already marked as promoted content. Then it will be replaced by endless feed of accounts posting ai slop that markets specific items/ideas to people. Why get paid to put Tide ads on side banner when the user can pay you to receive fake content promoting right wing ideology (in exchange for access to power in the us). There is no world in which Facebook, a tool to generate fake consensus, is not filled with advertisements. Paid or not paid, you’re being advertised to on there

And now you have helped them and they in turn won't learn so they'll forever expect you or someone else to come in and fix it for them.

Congrats, you've enabled and awarded laziness.

This is a very weird way to respond to a joke, and even weirder way to respond to people in general.
