If BYD can be fully or almost fully made in Canada, I'd consider it.

The only way I'd ever buy any EV from China is if they open source the hardware and software under a GPL compliant license

I've said this previously but jumping off of one untrustworthy fascist partner for the same is not progress or a solution that anyone should consider as the first option.

I agree with you there! Hopefully the European and Japanese electric options improve very soon.
