Steamos 3.8 beta on Legion Go, everything is working out so far.

It's amazing how drastic some things change. I transferred some files that would have taken windows about 5min, it only took 20sec.

Plenty of resources, space on the drive, still getting used to the differences of UI and settings, but I'm so glad I finally jumped out the window.

In my opinion, despite having to "re-learn" when switching to linux, it was more like actually learning useful stuff and now in comparison, windows feels like one of those plastic toy computers for children with sounds and a sticker for a screen.

Welcome to linux! You are now the proud owner of a real computer

This is a really good point. You never have to relearn a new workaround when some exec purposely destroys a feature after their spiritual advisor recommended it.

When I first switched to Linux about 20 years ago I would actually get bored because I wouldn’t have to spend so much time maintaining it. Of course, I realized over time that that means I can focus on actual productivity rather than zombie maintenance.

Linux is to Windows what cooking your own food is to McDonald's.

"I ASKED HOW MANY TIMES YOU HAD TO RECOMPILE IT THIS YEAR YOU FUCKING DONKEY"

"5 times sir."

"FIVE FUCKING TIMES??? JESUS CHRIST DID I ASK FOR CONSTANT MAINTENANCE WITH A SIDE OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS IN BETWEEN? IF I WANTED A RAW OPERATING SYSTEM I WOULD HAVE BECOME A FLAGSMAN INSTEAD OF A CHEF AND ASKED FOR A DISH OF "GENTOO". COOK ME A REAL OPERATING SYSTEM."

I transferred some files that would have taken windows about 5min, it only took 20sec.

If we're talking about storage devices, this may just be lots of caching, which in my opinion sucks for slow removable devices, because the transfer stays in background and you still can't unplug the damn USB.
Though there can also be some difference with filesystems. I can get pretty fast and stable RW with F2FS compared to exFAT on these devices.
