I'm only able to haul them to a shelf, where they keep decaying until they become a skeleton

I just had two man eating raccoons killed, one by a shot, another by a trap

I was able to butcher the one that was shot , got the leather and meat from it. Butcher table has bill to butcher forever

But the other one I can't do anything with it

I have another dozen skeletons on my shelves that might have had the same problem

no mods enable, just base games and all dlcs

First time playing this, so I'm still learning the ropes

You didn't happen to set an allowed area for your colonists that excludes the trap zone, did you? They can't go retrieve the kill if they aren't allowed in that area.

Other than that, I'd check to make sure that the butcher bill allows for the specific type of creature that was killed by the trap. Edit: they were both raccoons, this probably isn't it

If it's neither of those, then I don't know.

Edit: Hang on, if they were manhunting animals, they probably had scaria, and there's a 50/50 chance or so that creatures with scaria will have their body instantly considered rotten upon death. Check the second body and see if it says it's rotten. Colonists won't butcher spoiled corpses.

I think you nailed it with the scaria thing. The corpse is already gone by now, but I think that was the problem. tyvm

Might wanna set your shelves to not allow rotten then. No point getting your pawns hauling them in if they’re already rotten upon death
